Iran copes with sanctions through domestic capability: VP

(ISNA)-Iran copes with sanctions through its domestic capability, said First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi. "Enemies have been trying to bring down Iran through sanctions for 30 years, but they must know that Iran changes sanctions into opportunities and uses them for progress," he said in an inauguration ceremony of 8 development projects at Hashemi-Nejad Airport in northeastern city of Mashahd.
"Bullying powers try to deter independent countries’ progress, enemies have joined hands and launched economic war against Iran through imposition of several sanctions," Rahimi noted. He hinted that Iran makes the powers dissatisfied through using its domestic capabilities.
"Inauguration of the projects came as Iran is under sanctions and the issue makes Iranians proud," he noted. Rahimi then moved to gas and oil sanctions approved against Iran and said, "we are meeting over 70 percent of our needs by Iranian experts.
" He voiced confidence that sanctions would not affect Iran and that, "sanctions may get us in trouble but they will not damage the country at all." The UN Security Council adopted the 4th round of resolution against Iran early June after Iran’s refusal to abandon peaceful nuclear drive.
The sanctions are targeting Iran’s banking and gas and oil sector. The West accuses Iran of seeking nuclear weapons, but Iran denies the allegation, saying that it enrichment activities only seek peaceful purposes.

The impeachment of the Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar was also sought by a number of parliamentarians.
