US, the major culprit in drug trafficking, accuses Venezuela

The United States has an undeniable role in drug trafficking and terrorism worldwide. Numerous documents indicate that the CIA has been involved in drug trafficking around the world for decades (1, 2, 3).

On the other hand, according to reliable reports by officials and organizations in the US and other countries, only a small fraction of drugs trafficked to the US from Colombia and other leading producers, is transmitted via Venezuela. For instance, in 2018, Colombia produced or traded about 2,370 and Guatemala 1,400 tons of cocaine whereas only 210 tons of cocaine passed through Venezuela the same year (2, 4).

In fact, the Venezuelan government has been working seriously to eradicate drug trafficking since Hugo Chavez came to power in 1999. And his successor, Nicolás Maduro, has followed Chavez in almost all domestic and foreign policies (4).

It is now clear that the US needs no real reason to attack independent nations. They easily fabricate as many as they need to legitimize their criminal actions and achieve their inhumane goals.

The Trump administration follows a number of objectives by returning to Latin America and the military buildup in the southern Caribbean Sea. To name a few, it predominantly aims to access Venezuelan oil reserves. It also intends to indirectly contain China and Russia by toppling the governments that are aligned with them. In addition, it aims to compensate for failures in domestic and foreign policies. Finally, it aims to contain the resistance axis against the US hegemony and Israel. More specifically, by the recent campaign in the Caribbean Sea, the US intends to support Israel as Venezuela is one of the main supporters of the Palestine cause in Latin America.

The United States has been destabilizing numerous areas and jeopardizing global security for a long time and must be strongly condemned and stopped before it is too late.

The US has destabilized Latin America in the past decades by committing genocide against indigenous populations, implementing sanctions, backing coups and other military and non-military interventions, all having long-lasting adverse consequences (4, 5).

Latin American nations should unite against the US hegemony to prevent further intervention and ensure prosperity and stability in the region. Also, people around the globe should urge their governments to confront the Trump administration. Otherwise, they will suffer the negative consequences sooner or later.
