Kremlin confirms Putin due in Tehran on July 19
Kremlin on Tuesday confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Tehran on July 19 for talks with Iranian officials.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced the news, saying during the trip, a trilateral meeting will be held among the presidents of Iran, Turkey and Russia, Fars News Agency quoted a report by Sputnik.
He added meetings with Iranian officials will also be on the agenda during Putin’s Tehran trip.
Putin’s visit was announced earlier by Mohammadreza Pour-Ebrahimi, the chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Economic Committee, who added that the expansion of economic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow will be the priority in the talks between Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi and Putin.
Anadolu Agency had earlier announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit Tehran on July 19, not providing any further details.
Over the past few weeks, Western countries, in particular the United States, have launched bids, through making baseless claims, to sour the atmosphere pervading Tehran-Moscow ties, preventing improvement of relations between the two sides.
In June, Raeisi visited Russia and discussed bilateral, regional and international issues with Putin.
