Raeisi: Foreign interference, presence only complicating regional problems
Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said the Islamic Republic believes that foreigners’ presence and interference in the region cannot solve any issue, and only complicate regional problems.
Raeisi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting President of Armenia’s National Assembly Alen Simonyan in Tehran on Wednesday night, noting that dialogue among regional states is the only path to the resolution of problems, president.ir wrote.
He said supporting all regional states’ territorial integrity and national sovereignty is the Islamic Republic’s principle policy.
Raeisi gave the assurance that Iran backs any interaction and dialogue aimed at ensuring peace in the region, with a focus on and through regional countries.
The president said Iran has considerable geopolitical capacities, which prepare the ground for regional convergence and promotion of peace and welfare among the countries of the region from the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea and Europe.
He noted that the Islamic Republic is determined to develop its relations with neighboring and friendly states, saying Iran and Armenia have considerable capacities for expanding cooperation in the transport, energy, industry, agriculture and techno-engineering sectors.
Raeisi said parliamentary interactions play an effective and constructive role in improving the level of bilateral ties, calling on the joint economic commission to explore ways to raise the level of relations and take practical steps to this end.
Simonyan said Armenia attaches great importance to developing economic, trade and transit ties with Iran, describing the two sides’ capacities as favorable for expansion of all-out relations.
He commended Iran’s constructive stances toward regional developments, expressing hope that the Islamic Republic would play a more active role in this regard.
