Iran discusses judicial cooperation with Germany, Netherlands
An Iranian Judiciary official discussed with the German and Dutch ambassadors to Tehran the legal and judicial cooperation with the two European states and continued efforts to protect the rights of Iranian nationals and inmates in Europe.
Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian Judiciary chief’s deputy for international affairs and secretary-general of Iran's Human Rights Office, raised the issues in separate meetings in Tehran with Hans Odo Motzel, the German ambassador, and Frank Mollen, the Dutch envoy, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Gharibabadi and the European envoys also talked about issues of mutual interest, including the consular affairs as well as Tehran’s legal and judicial cooperation with Berlin and Amsterdam.
The Iranian Judiciary official called on the German envoy to prepare the ground for Iranian national Kazem Darabi to meet his daughter, who is in Germany.
In his meeting with Mollen, Gharibabadi urged immediate release of Mahdi Kiasati, an Iranian national who has been jailed in the Netherlands at the request of the U.S. on a bogus charge of violating the sanctions.
Back in November, in a meeting with the Dutch envoy in Tehran, Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi lashed out at the hegemonic powers for exploiting human rights to pressure developing countries.
He noted that Iran feels duty-bound, on the basis of its religious teachings, to respect the rights of people, of which a clear sign is the country’s hosting of four million Afghans.
The president also called on the Netherlands to maintain its independence and keep the influences of the global hegemony at bay.
