Russian president congratulates Iranian counterpart on Norouz
President Vladimir Putin of Russia in a message to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday congratulated him on the Iranian New Year (Norouz) that celebrates the beginning of spring.
President Putin wrote in his message that expansion of constructive cooperation between the two countries will benefit the interests of both nations as well as the regional stability and security, IRNA reported.
He noted that relations between Iran and Russia are based on longstanding amity and friendship, good neighborly ties and mutual respect.
President Putin wished good health and success for President Rouhai and prosperity and welfare for the Iranian people as well.
The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) has referred to Norouz as an ancient ceremony to welcome spring.
“For thousands of years, Norouz has been celebrated by the Persians. This ancient ceremony is celebrated every year on 1 Farvardin (the first month in Persian Calendar), roughly 20 March, to welcome the New Year and the spring, which brings life back to Earth for a new beginning,” unesco-ichcap wrote on its official website.
