Tehran, Baku to hold joint economic commission meeting next month
Pointing to the visit of Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mostafayev to Tehran on Tuesday, he noted that among the most important agreements made during the trip were the construction of a new power plant in Nakhichevan and a bridge in Astarachay, as well as Iranian companies’ participation in reconstruction of liberated areas, reported Fars News Agency.
He added that as a result of the talks, Iran and Azerbaijan are to cooperate in manufacturing tractors, buses, and production of medicine, as Iran will build factories in Azerbaijan.
Vaezi referred to the preferential trade agreements made on the visit, and said the two sides decided to hold the joint economic commission in Tehran.
He went on to say that with the new developments, the relations between Tehran and Baku will expand.
On Monday, a member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) said that Iran enjoys the capabilities to participate in the reconstruction process of Karabakh region in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Yahya Al-e Es’haq pointed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's call on friendly states to participate in the reconstruction of the conflict-hit region, arguing that Iran has the potential to be part of the project.
“Iran has skilled manpower and high technology as well as hardware facilities to implement different projects in developing roads, railways, ports, and buildings,” he noted.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoy amicable ties, which could pave the way for further cooperation especially in terms of conducting reconstruction projects in the Karabakh region,” Al-e Es’haq added.
