Kuwait’s Emir Planning to Visit Iran
(FNA)- Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah voiced his country's willingness to consolidate its all-out ties with Iran, and said Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah is planning to pay an official visit to the Iranian capital in near future.
Addressing a ceremony to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in Kuwait City on Tuesday, Al-Jarallah described Iran-Kuwait relations as excellent, and said Kuwait is resolved to coordinate the regional security affairs with Iran.
Al-Jarallah did not disclose the date or other details of the Emir's trip to Iran.
Early in December, Iranian and Kuwaiti Foreign ministers pledged to do their best to expand bilateral ties between the two Muslim countries in all domains.
In a meeting in the Kuwait City, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Kuwaiti counterpart Shaikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah discussed ways to bolster mutual relations in all fields.
“We believe that a new era has begun in ties between Iran and regional states which should turn into a new chapter of amicable relations through efforts by all regional countries,” Zarif said.
He added that Iran and Kuwait have political resolve to boost economic ties and voiced Tehran’s readiness for joint trade and energy ventures.
“We are happy that the meeting of the second joint high economic committee was held between the two countries after seven years and it is necessary to try to implement its agreements through regular contacts between Iranian and Kuwaiti officials at different levels,” the Iranian top diplomat stated.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister, for his part, said his country has a strategic view to ties with Iran and emphasized that bilateral cooperation would serve the interests of Tehran, Kuwait City and the entire region.
Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in the last few years.
