Iran, Kuwait Keen to Expand Bilateral Ties
(FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in a meeting in Kuwait underlined the need for the expansion of bilateral ties.
During the meeting in the Kuwait city on Tuesday, the Iranian deputy foreign minister and the Kuwaiti emir explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating of mutual cooperation.
Amir Abdollahian pointed to good and historical relations between Iran and Kuwait, and said, "We hope that the mutual cooperation which is being followed up within the framework of joint committees will achieve acceptable and palpable results in the near future."
The Kuwaiti emir, for his part, said that his country pays heed to expansion of ties with the regional countries, and said, "Expansion of relations with Iran is in line with the interests of the regional countries."
Earlier this week, Amir Abdollahian started a bi-nation tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait to discuss bilateral ties with senior officials of the two Persian Gulf states.
Amir Abdollahian left Tehran for Kuwait on Monday to confer with the Arab country's high-ranking foreign ministry officials on issues of mutual interest.
The Iranian deputy foreign also delivered Iranian President Rouhani's letter of invitation to him to pay an official visit to Tehran.
Amir Abdollahian is to exchange views on issues of bilateral ties along with regional and international developments during his regional tour.
The second leg of regional tour will take the Iranian diplomat to Abu Dhabi in the UAE to exchange views with the Arab country's senior officials.
