Tehran’s Daily Newspaper Review
In response to Ahmadi Jannati’s remarks –that there is no need for the Reformists’ participation in elections- former head of the National Security Council and Hashemi Rafsanjani’s close companion Hassan Rowhani has said that it is the law, and not individuals, that stipulates who runs in elections. The South Sudan referendum has obviously raised the ire of Iranian conservative media such as Kayhan and Jomhouri-ye Eslami –who disagree on domestic politics but share similar ideas on diplomatic issues- which have spoken of a Western plot aimed to disintegrate Sudan.
