(1)   Eid-e Fetr (or its original pronunciation in Arabic Id-ul-Fitr) is the Muslim holiday that marks the end of the month of Ramadan.

(2)   Neither Gaza, Nor Lebanon/My Life Devoted to Iran was the most popular slogan chanted by the Green Movement supporters during the last year’s Quds Day Rally held at the last Friday of the Ramadan in Iran and other Muslim countries. The slogan infuriated many revolutionary politicians as it was in opposition to the Islamic Republic’s 30-year agenda of defending the Palestinian cause.

(3)   Mohammad Ali Raja’ee was the second president of Iran elected to the post in summer 1981. Mohammad Reza Bahonar was his prime minister. Both were killed in an explosion said to be conducted by Mojahedin-e Khalgh less than a month from coming to power. Raja’ee was known for his austere lifestyle, which Ahmadinejad has tried to be a reminiscent of since his term as the mayor of Tehran in early 2000s.

(4)   Pasteur Street [named after French microbiologist Louis Pasteur] is the site of the Iranian presidential office.

Note: Wednesday, 21st of Ramadan, is the anniversary of the martyrdom of the first Shi’a Imam, Ali (as) and an official holiday.
