UN Security Council violates its principles

Iran's Ambassador to the UN Gholam Ali Khoshrou said that UN Security Council has flouted its principles, urging the world body to avoid discriminatory approaches.

Khoshrou made the remarks addressing the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly free discussion panel on the priorities of Iran concerning the sustainable development.

UN Security Council should be bound to its obligations and avoid prejudicial attitudes, he added.

Speaking on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), he underlined that the UN Security Council should be responsible towards its actions.

UN Security Council has used force in some cases, but has been silent towards similar ones, Khoshrou added.

He urged UN Security Council to avoid using force before testing peaceful ways for resolution of conflicts.
