US not to abide by nuclear deal commitments
A recent opinion poll conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization (IRIB) shows the majority of the Iranian people do not trust the US with regard to a possible final deal between Iran and the P+1 group over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Speaking in the northeastern province of South Khorasan, IRIB President Mohammad Sarafraz said some 70 percent of the Iranian people believe that the US will not remain committed to its undertakings in the nuclear talks between Iran and the six global powers.
The IRIB survey reveals that 72.9 percent of Iranians think Tehran should continue to enrich uranium on home soil if the nuclear talks break down, he added.
Seventy percent of those polled also believe that Iran should cut down imports in a bid to counter enemies’ plots if the nuclear talks fail.
According to the IRIB poll, 75 percent of the respondents believe that Washington will be to blame if the talks between Iran and P5+1 countries reach a deadlock.
Iran and the P5+1 group – the US, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany – are currently working to reach a final accord on Iran’s nuclear program by the end of June.
The two sides reached a mutual understanding on the parameters of a comprehensive agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.
Iran and the six countries wrapped up their latest round of deputy-level discussions in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Friday and agreed to resume fresh talks next Tuesday.
