Iranian Deputy FM Leaves Tehran for Moscow for Regional Talks

(FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian headed to Moscow on Tuesday to meet and hold talks with Russian officials on important regional developments.

During the visit, Amir Abdollahian is due to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President Vladimir Putin's Special Representative in Middle-East Mikhail Bogdanov.

In his discussions with high-ranking Russian officials, he will review major regional developments, including the ongoing situation in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Palestine.

Expansion of regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism also tops the agenda of Amir Abdollahian's visit to Moscow.

In relevant remarks on Monday, Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri underscored that the world powers are fully aware of Tehran's influential and vital role in the regional developments.

The world powers are completely aware that in order to establish peace and stability throughout the region, they have to coordinate with Iran, Jahangiri said in the Southeastern province of Kerman.
Noting that Iran is the center of peace and stability in the region, the vice president said that pursuing any policy without consultation with Iran would be of no use.
Jahangiri said that Iran is on the right path and that the reasonable stands of the Iranian nation have been proved to the world, and added those who imposed sanctions on Iran have today come to the conclusion that they cannot talk with Iran forcefully and that they have to talk honestly with the Iranian nation instead.

Different regional and international figures have underlined Iran's significant role in the region.

Qatari Judiciary Chief Ali Bin Fatis al-Marri in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abollahian in January stressed Iran's important role in the region, and called for the further development of ties with Tehran.

During the meeting in Doha, Marri said his country was ready to cooperate with Iran in judiciary areas, and said Tehran-Doha ties were of particular significance.

He said the two countries could cooperate both in bilateral issues as well as international judiciary bodies.

Also in January, Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides underlined Iran's important role in fighting terrorism, and called for the further expansion of relations with Tehran.

"ISIL is threatening the region and beyond and the incidents in Paris showed that the global campaign on terrorism is highly important and Iran plays a key role in fighting terrorism," Kasoulides said in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran.

He also stressed Iran's pivotal role in the region, and said the country could also help the process of presidential election in Lebanon.
