Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack in Northern Syria

(FNA)- The Iranian foreign ministry deplored the Friday terrorist attack by extremist groups in Hasaka province in Northern Syria, which killed tens of people.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham condemned the attack, and expressed the hope that terrorism and extremism would be uprooted through cooperation among all states.

She also extended her condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the terrorist attack.

Dozens of civilians were killed and injured as terrorist bombings rocked the Syrian city of Hasakah on Friday.

SANA news agency reported the attack, saying terrorists detonated two car bombs, killing and injuring scores of civilians.

The agency quoted a source at the province’s Police Command as saying that the bombings took place at al-Shuhadaa Square in al-Mufti residential neighborhood, claiming the lives of 37 civilians and injuring more than 96 others, most of them women and children.

The source noted that the death toll might increase as 20 of the civilians injured in the attack were in critical conditions.

The source also said the attacks caused huge damage to the buildings, cars and shops in the area.
