Iran Stages Emergency Radiation Maneuver in Bushehr N. Power Plant
(FNA)- Iran held emergency drills in Bushehr nuclear power plant, in Southern Iran, to check all security potentials in the site, Head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali announced.
Iran's 3rd radiation wargame began in Bushehr on Friday and the country's neighbors were properly informed of the important event by the Foreign Ministry in advance.
"The purpose of informing the neighboring countries about the exact time and location of the radiation wargame is to ensure them that there is no need to be worried," said IRGC Brigadier General on the sidelines of the radiation maneuver in Bushehr.
He said that in the Foreign Ministry letter to the neighboring countries it has also been reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for assisting them, transferring of its experience upon request, and training them respectively.
Jalali said that the radiation war game in Bushehr is the 12th wargame in Iranian nuclear sites and the 3rd nationwide maneuver, the first of which was based in the Central province and the 2nd one in Isfahan.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is a nuclear country, as our nuclear facilities are stationed in seven Iranian provinces three of them are currently active," he added.
He said that in order to provide an appropriate response to probable needs under the crisis management conditions the required harmony among the government the armed forces and the Civil Defense Organization has been made and the permits for deployment of the armed forces has been offered to the governorates of the country's nuclear provinces.
In October, Head of Bushehr nuclear power plant Hossein Darakhshandeh said that Iran's first nuclear power plant in Bushehr enjoys a maximum level of safety.
He said the power plant is in conformity with the international standards.
He also said that Bushehr power plant in addition to producing cheap and secure electricity, has an important role in reducing environmental pollution.
