Iran, Tunisia culture ministers ink cooperation agreements
Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Jannati and his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Sakli, have signed two cooperation agreements.
Based on the agreements, which were signed in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, the countries’ cooperation in the areas of music as well as translation and publication will enter a new stage, IRNA reported on Thursday.
The Iranian Cultural Week has opened in the capital and several other regions of the North African state. Music performances, exhibitions of Persian paintings, calligraphy, illumination, and costumes are on the program.
The Cultural Week’s opening ceremony was also joined, among others, by Tunisia’s Minister of Education Fathi al-Jarray.
Jannati said the event will deepen ties between Tehran and Tunis, adding, "The participation of Iranian artists and this Cultural Week plays an important role in strengthening cultural ties between Iran and the brotherly Republic of Tunisia.”
Screening Iranian cinematic productions, exhibiting Persian works of art such as paintings, calligraphy, illumination, traditional and regional Persian costumes and performing traditional music are among the programs of the event.
The first Iranian film week was held in Tunis in 2011, while the first Tunisia Cultural Week was presented in the Iranian capital city of Tehran in 2012.
