Iranian, Croatian MPs Discuss Consolidation of All-Out Ties
(FNA)- Head of Iran-Croatia parliamentary friendship group Jabbar Kouchakinejad and Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko voiced their countries' willingness to boost Tehran-Zagreb all-out relations, specially in parliamentary fields.
In a meeting in the Croatian capital, Kouchakinejad underlined the friendly relations between the two countries and stressed the need for both sides to strengthen their cooperation, particularly in the parliamentary arenas.
Kouchakinejad also announced that Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani would like to receive his Croatian counterpart in Iran.
Josip Leko, for his part, noted the two countries great potential for cooperation and said, “Iran-Croatia Parliamentary cooperation is highly significant in promoting bilateral relations.”
On Wednesday, a group of lawmakers left Tehran for Zagreb to confer with their Croatian counterparts on the promotion of relations and cooperation.
The visit is taking place upon an official invitation of head of the Croatia-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group Mladen Novak.
The Iranian legislators are to hold separate meetings with Croatian President Ivo Josipović, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić and a number of other senior officials of that country.
Iran and Croatia established diplomatic relations on April 18, 1992 when Iran became the 7th country to recognize the newly-independent country. Croatia has an embassy in Tehran and Iran maintains an embassy and a cultural center in Zagreb.
