(FNA)- Newly appointed Spokesman of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Hekmat Hajiev emphasized Baku's resolve to pave the ground for the enhancement of all-out ties with Iran, particularly in the media sector.

Speaking in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayeen, Hajiev condemned the divisive plots hatched by certain countries to create rift between the two Muslim nations, and said, "Following the firm will shown by the two sides' senior officials for expanding mutual cooperation, we should do our best to consolidate this progressive trend, particularly in the field of media."

The Iranian diplomat, for his part, said that an Iranian delegation led by Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarqami is to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan to confer with senior Azeri officials on expansion of media cooperation.

He further added that the Iranian delegation is to discuss establishment of a joint committee on media affairs with Azeri officials.

Tehran has in recent years focused seriously on development of ties with the neighboring countries, including the Republic of Azerbaijan which enjoys various commonalties with Iran in religious, historical and cultural fields.
