The Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement is scheduled to hold a meeting in Tehran today (Monday) at the foreign ministerial level to assess the grave situation in the Gaza Strip.

Israel is conducting intensive attacks on the Gaza Strip from the air, land, and sea. The death toll has exceeded 1800, with women and children the main victims.

The foreign ministers of the NAM Palestine Committee will be holding the meeting at the invitation of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Algeria, Bangladesh, Cuba, Egypt, India, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, and Malaysia are the members of the NAM Palestine Committee.

In his invitation message, Zarif said the horrific massacres of innocent Palestinian men, women, and children, the devastation of the Gaza Strip, and the displacement of thousands of Palestinians have troubled the international community’s conscience.

He stated that the large scale of this catastrophe requires the international community, and specifically the Non-Aligned Movement, to take action to stop the killing of the Palestinians in Gaza and to put an end to the Zionist regime’s aggression.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will also be attending the meeting.

‘Zionist regime’s crimes should be investigated at an international court’

On Sunday, the Iranian foreign minister said that the Zionist regime’s crimes are horrible and should be investigated at an international court.

He added that Iran is making serious efforts to bring an end to Israel’s crimes.

The Zionist regime views the killing of Palestinians as a “national policy” and to counter the crime, Muslims have resorted to international organizations, but unfortunately, such organizations are silent about these atrocities, Zarif stated.

He went on to say that in such a situation, it is necessary for Muslims to acquire a “deep understanding” of their strength.

He also emphasized the necessity of unity among Muslims to overcome problems in the Islamic world.
