Iran Urges Int’l, Regional Organizations to Help Stop Israeli Crimes in Gaza
(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham condemned the new wave of Israeli attacks on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and called on the international and regional organizations to take immediate action to stop Tel Aviv's ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip.
Afkham condemned Israel's fresh attacks on Shejaiya district of the Gaza Strip where health officials said at least 50 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, and urged the international bodies to fulfill their duties to stop the Zionists' inhumane crimes in there.
"Surely, the world Muslims and freedom-seeking nations will give an unforgettable lesson to the Quds occupying regime on the International Quds Day," she said.
She noted that as before the Iranian government and nation stay beside the hero nation of Palestine and its brave resistance, and "they will not remain silent on the savage crimes of the Zionists".
In relevant remarks on Thursday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in separate messages to Chairman of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Abdolvahed Razzi and its Secretary-General Martin Chungung called for an immediate end to the brutal Israeli attacks on the people in Gaza.
In his messages, Larijani warned that continuation of the brutal siege of Gaza would lead to human catastrophe in that region and threatens the regional peace and security.
He called on the OIC Parliamentary Union, the international community and other global organizations to take immediate actions to halt Tel Aviv brutal attacks on Gaza.
Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 13 consecutive days, killing at least 355 people and injuring more than 2,600 others.
According to the UN, 77% of the victims in Gaza are civilians and defenseless people.
International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas.
Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held every year on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.
The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.
