President’s Advisor: US, Israel Benefit from Shiite-Sunni Differences

(FNA)- President's Special Adviser in Ethnic Minorities Affairs Ali Younesi lashed out at the US and Israel for supporting the terrorists groups in the Middle East, and said Washington and Tel Aviv benefit from differences between the Shiite and Sunnis.

"These savage violent acts which have been done in Muslim countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria and Egypt is a great service to the Zionist regime because Muslims instead of engaging in war with them engage in fighting with each other," Younesi said.

He reiterated that tens of satellite TV networks, radios and Internet sites are engaged in anti-Shiite activities while only the US and Zionists benefit from them.

Last month, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei urged Muslims from all walks of life, regardless of their sects and beliefs, to be vigilant against plots, saying enemies are doing their best to stir sectarian wars to stop the tidal waves of Islamic Awakening.

Addressing the family members of Tehran's martyrs, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "The enemies in the region are investing in civil wars and they are hoping for a Shiite-Sunni war in a bid to free themselves from their concerns about the Islamic awakening."

He noted that today the remnants of Saddam's regime and a bunch of ignorant people are committing crimes in Iraq.

"But what is happening now is not a Shiite-Sunni war, (but) it is a war of terrorism with the opponents of terrorism, war of the lovers of the West with the supporters of the independence of the nations," the Supreme Leader added.

"It is the war of humanity with savagery and barbarism," Ayatollah Khamenei added.

The Supreme Leader pointed to the efforts underway by the enemies of Islam to repeat Iraq's incidents in other countries, and said, "The nations should vigilantly monitor these movements and know that the enemy will do everything to ruin the independence and dignity of the Muslims."

He noted that Islamic democracy is a unique and curing prescription for confronting the enemies.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the brave Iranian nation has made the enemy's attempts to fail through their unity and vigilance, ensured that the Iranian nation will render all attacks and plots of the global arrogance futile, "and the hegemonic powers will be certainly defeated in their confrontation with the Islamic awakening in the end."

Iran has always attached crucial importance to paving the way for the enhancement of interaction and cooperation among Muslim nations in a bid to strengthen Muslim unity throughout the world.
