Iranian Deputy FM Underlines Egypt’s Pivotal Role in Regional Stability
(FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed Egypt's important role in the Muslim world, and said the country's stability is a main component of the stability of the region.
"Egypt's security and stability leads to stability in the region," Amir Abdollahian said in a press conference after participating in the swearing-in ceremony of Egyptian President-Elect General Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday.
Noting that Tehran follows the developments in Egypt precisely, he said, "We in Iran assume (presidential) election in Egypt as a step forward and believe that Egypt won't return to its previous conditions."
Amir Abdollahian also underlined Egypt's important role in the region and the Muslim world.
Al-Sisi sent an invitation letter to Iran last Tuesday to invite President Hassan Rouhani to his inauguration ceremony.
The invitation was submitted by Head of Egypt's Interests Section in Tehran Khalid al-Said Ibrahim Amari to President Rouhani's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian on Tuesday.
Iran later decided to send the deputy foreign minister to the ceremoney.
Al-Sisi, took the oath of office before the High Constitutional Court on Sunday morning to become Egypt's ninth president.
