Iran, Turkey enjoy similar views about owards regional, intˈl issues: President
IRNA – Iran and Turkey enjoy similar views about regional and international developments, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday.
He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart President Abdullah Gul.
Iran is keen to expand cooperation with neighboring countries including Turkey, president Rouhani noted.
He underlined that Tehran and Ankara are determined to augment the current 15 billion dollars trade to 30 billion dollars a year.
By constructing a railroad which connects Iranˈs Bazargan district to Turkey, the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea will be connected to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, president Rouhani underscored.
He called for economic cooperation between the two countries in all fields including the university research, tourism, hotel construction and banking.
On Tehran-Ankara cooperation in the international campaign against terrorism, President Rouhani said that both Iran and Turkey have suffered from and are against the spread of extremism and unrest in the region including Syria and Egypt and they are keen to expand international cooperation.
He called for a world free from weapons of mass destruction and asserted that Tehran and Ankara share similar stance about peaceful use of nuclear energy.
