(Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is planned to visit Turkey on Monday, a Turkish official said.

The Iranian president is expected to meet senior Turkish officials including Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara for talks on bilateral ties and regional issues, the official told AFP on Thursday.

“The visit has been in the making for a while,” and Rouhani is expected to be accompanied by a crowded delegation of ministers, the official said on condition of anonymity.

This is the first time Rouhani visits Turkey as president.

In January, Erdogan visited Tehran where he said the two neighboring countries aimed to more than double annual trade volume to $30 billion (22 billion euros) next year from $13.5 billion in 2013.
