(FNA)- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Azerbaijan's special envoy to Tehran Kamaladdin Heydarov stressed the need to utilize each and every capacity of the two countries to pave the ground for the enhancement of the bilateral ties in various political, economic, cultural and scientific sectors.

“Iran and Azerbaijan have good relations with each other, yet the capacity to expand relations and enhance cooperation is great," the Iranian president said during a meeting with Heydarov in Tehran on Saturday.

The Azeri envoy, for his part, expressed Baku’s interest in boosting relations with Tehran after he handed a written message by President Ilham Aliyev to President Rouhani.

“Good conditions have been created after the new administration took office which has paved the way for expansion of mutual ties and the Republic of Azerbaijan is determined to take advantage of this situation," the envoy said, while referring to an impending visit by Aliyev to Iran.

Iran has recently enhanced efforts to boost political, economic, security and cultural ties and cooperation with the regional and neighboring countries, specially the Central Asian states, including Republic of Azerbaijan.

On Friday, top diplomats of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan held a meeting in the Turkish city of Van on expansion of ties among the three nations, and discussed the latest developments on the international and regional scenes.
