(FNA)- Russia's newly appointed Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said on Wednesday that he plans to visit Iran in April to discuss a broad range of trade issues.

"The trip will probably happen - it won't be in March but at the end of April," Ulyukayev was quoted by state news agency RIA Novosti as saying.

Ulyukayev was responding to an FNA report last weekend that he would visit Tehran on March 21, carrying a proposal to exchange Iranian oil for railway construction work.

On Saturday, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said that Ulyukayev is slated to propose a framework for barter trade partnership with Iran during his upcoming visit to Tehran.

“The Russian minister of economic development will come to Tehran with proposals for bartering railway construction for Iran's oil,” he noted.

Dzhagaryan underlined that Russia is willing to expand its economic ties with Iran in various spheres.
