Iran has received no invitation from Saudi leader for President Rohani
IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Tuesday that Iran has received no invitation from Saudi leader to President Hassan Rohani.
Addressing a weekly press conference with Iranian and foreign reporters, Afkham commented on media reports that Saudi King had invited Iranian president Hassan Rohani to visit Saudi Arabia.
She said that the invitation must be delivered to Foreign Ministry of Iran by the Saudi Embassy in Tehran.
The spokeswoman dismissed the alleged arrest of an Iranian-Belgian spy by the Israeli agents, as a manuever to help the occupying regime get out of international isolation.
The spokeswoman said that the allegation has been fabricated to provide ammunition for Netanyahu on the occasion of his visit to the US.
She said that the Zionist regime lodges new scenarios due to the fact that it is incapable of proceeding with its expansionist goals and the regime’s warmongering dialogue has been in isolation.
She noted that absolutely, such scenarios are cowardly attempts of the Zionist regime to show anger and we do not heed.
“That’s a defeated and repeated method for the public opinion,”
Asked about the upcoming meeting of Iran and Group 5+1 in Geneva on October 15-16 and whether there is a guarantee that the US will abid by its promises, Afkham said that the framework for next steps will be taken in Geneva and the framework would be decisive.
“We want the start and end of the talks be clear; we aim to secure full possession of nuclear technology in line with Non-Proliferation Treaty including enrichment.”
She added, “We will allay logical concerns of the other party in line with the Safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency; that’s the first framework for talks and on that basis, reciprocal steps would be taken.”
Turning to the US, Afkham said what Iranian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State talked about was in fact nuclear related subject.
She noted that no reference was made in the talks to bilateral relations or the root causes of historical differences.
“The dialogue only falls within framework of Iran nuclear issue and presently, it is not a matter in the Iran-US relations.”
The kind of US engagement in the nuclear talks would reveal the upcoming bilateral talks, she added.
As for presence of supporters and of the opposition in Tehran Mehrabad Airport, Afkham said Iran is a multipolar society and groups and individuals are free to express their opinion based on the laws and regulations and government has a hearing ear for all the voices.
Asked about Iran presence in the Geneva 2 Conference on Syria, she said the participation would have not the least effect in Iranian principled policies.
She said the UN chief Ban Ki-moon has set a date for the session; however, we have welcomed the meeting within framework of our principled policy as a political settlement for the nuclear dispute.
“Presence or absence in the Geneva 2 meeting would not change or influence our principled policies on Syria.”
“We want preparation of the ground and distinguishing rights of the Syrian nation to decide their fate.”
