IRGC commanders give detail of submarines

(MNA) – Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, the IRGC Naval Forces Commander said that apart from usual technology of the submarines, the IRGC submarines enjoy capabilities beyond the general level.

In an answer to a question about the operational scope of the submarines, he said that operational scope of submarines of the armed forces, both in Army navy and IRGC naval forces, is extensive, not limited to a certain geography.

Fadavi also added that since long ago the army submarines have been operational, and soon the IRGC submarines will enter operation phase. He characterized the submarines as having capabilities beyond the general level of submarines.

Mohammed Eslami, Research and Industry Deputy of Minister of Defense, stated that the Ministry of Defense is the provider of military facilities for the armed forces, and it accepts and manufactures the ordered facilities.

“IRGC submarines will be medium-ranged and sonar-evading, operating in missions defined for IRGC,” he added. “Sonar evasion is the necessity for operating submarines,” he asserted.
