(MNA) - The deputy director of Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) has said that the corporation is ready to help Iran build another reactor at the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

Rosatom is ready to help Iran build one more power unit at the Bushehr nuclear power plant if it is economically profitable and politically expedient, Nikolai Spassky told reporters on Tuesday, according to Itar-Tass news agency.

“If it is not banned, if it is profitable, (and) if the project is developed, we are ready,” Spassky stated.

He added that there is nothing new in such formulation of the issue.

“The UN Security Council permitted this issue in sanction resolutions. Preliminary consultations continue on this issue,” he noted.

A number of factors should be realized to conclude a contract, Spassky said.

“First of all, an economic project should be developed and there should be economic expediency. There is nothing at all yet,” the Rosatom deputy director added.
