Press TV-Iran's mission to the United Nations has rejected recent claims by an American daily about plots by Iran-linked operatives to assassinate different diplomats overseas.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been the main victim of terrorism over the past years and thousands of Iranians, including citizens and high-ranking officials as well as Iranian scientists, have been targeted by organized terrorist measures,” said the mission on Tuesday in response to a report by the Washington Post.

The Washington Post claimed on Monday that Iran-linked operatives have hatched plots to kill foreign diplomats over a span of 13 months. The targets, the American daily claimed, included two Saudi officials, a half-dozen Israelis and several Americans in seven or more countries.

“Iran has always condemned any act of terrorism; and such baseless allegations are being made against the country in line with Iranophobia and the policy of exerting illegal pressure on the Islamic Republic,” it added.
