Press TV-Three members of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) have reportedly escaped from their temporary residence at Camp Liberty near the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.

According to a Monday report by the Mehr news agency, the three MKO members managed to escape from the former US military base near Baghdad’s International Airport, despite the strict measures and tight controls on the movements of all MKO terrorists within the site.

The report added that the MKO members have surrendered themselves to Iraqi security forces.

The report comes as nearly 1,000 MKO members have expressed willingness to return to Iran and seek clemency.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government has recently transferred the fifth group of the MKO terrorists from Camp New Iraq, formerly known as Camp Ashraf and situated about 120 kilometers (74 miles) west of the border with Iran, to Camp Liberty.

The governor of the Iraqi city of Khalis, Oday al-Khedran, said that 416 MKO members, including 350 women, were moved from the Camp New Iraq to the new location.

The MKO fled to Iraq in 1986, where it enjoyed the support of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein, and set up its camp near the Iranian border.
