Iran, Tunisia determined to expand ties: envoy
TEHRAN, April 22 (MNA) – Tehran’s ambassador to Tunis said on Sunday that the Iranian foreign minister’s scheduled visit to Tunisia shows the will of the two countries to expand ties and reinforce interaction on the international stage.
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is scheduled to travel to Tunisia on Monday, at the head of a political and parliamentary delegation, to hold talks with the country’s officials.
It will be the first visit of a high-ranking Iranian official to Tunisia since the ouster of former Tunisian president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali on January 14, 2011.
“Salehi’s upcoming visit to Tunisia has received widespread media coverage, and it shows the importance of the visit and relations between Iran and Tunisia,” Ambassador Payman Jebeli told the Persian service of IRNA.
On April 23, Salehi said that the outlook for increased cooperation between the two countries is bright.
