Tehran Times -- The Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) is playing host to an exhibition of Persian paintings created by master of miniature and Persian carpet design Amir-Hushang Jazizadeh.

The exhibition opened Friday in the presence of Jazizadeh, Master Mahmud Farshchian, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Istanbul’s Mayor Kadir Topbas and several other artists, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Saturday.

Jazizadeh was born in 1933 in Isfahan. He received his degree in fine arts in Isfahan and continued his studies in England where he studied design and ceramic arts. He then returned to his country and has been working on Persian paintings for years.

The master has held several exhibits in Iran and several other countries and his precious paintings are found in England, Belgium, Finland, and Turkey.

The opening ceremony began with a short speech by Farshchian, a friend of Jazizadeh, who talked about his memoirs.  Praising his works he said, “We were both friends and studied at the same school; I believe his paintings are astonishingly beautiful.”

Artist and researcher Majid Sharifzadeh, also present at the ceremony, talked about traditional art and its link to Persian traditions and beliefs, adding that the art of master Jazizadeh has become globally recognized.

Jazizadeh also expressed his thanks to (IAF) Director Majid Sarsangi, regarding himself a little artist in hope of becoming a master.

Mayor Topbas praised Persian art and artists and hoped the forum would arrange an exhibition of Persian paintings by the masters in Istanbul.

The ceremony was brought to an end with the unveiling of the latest work by Jazizadeh.

The exhibit will be running until December 28 at the forum located on Musavi St. Taleqani Ave.
