MEHR NEWS – On Wednesday, a number of people, mostly Basijis, staged a demonstration outside the Qolhak Garden where the British ambassador’s residence in Tehran is located to protest about the fact that a number of people affiliated with it have destroyed about 310 trees in the garden.

The demonstrators chanted slogans condemning the British Embassy and said that those who have taken such an inhumane move must be taken to court.

The people also said that the British ambassador to Tehran should be expelled.

They issued a statement at the end of the demonstration.

Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on October 31 that the case of the British Embassy’s expropriation of the Qolhak Garden will be referred to the Judiciary.

He also said that the fact that over 300 trees in the garden have been destroyed cannot be overlooked, adding, “I will instruct my colleagues at the Tehran Municipality to report the case of the British Embassy’s violations committed in the Qolhak Garden to the Judiciary as soon as possible.”
