Malaysian expo to host Iranian art
PRESS TV - The 2011 edition of Malaysia's International Art Expo is scheduled to exhibit works by contemporary Iranian artists in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
According to the Associate Professor of Applied Art and Design Department of International Islamic University Malaysia, Dr. Mandana Barkeshli, the participating Iranians are taking part in the event for the first time.
As the Founder and Director of Art and Identity Institute in Kuala Lumpur, Barksheli will present 20 paintings, calligraphies and photos created by Mohammad Ehsai, Gholam-Hossein Amirkhani, Ali Shirazi, Sedaqat Jabbari and Amir-Hossein Zekrgou, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Shiraz Art Gallery is the other Iranian representative at the exhibition which will showcase works by a number of veteran artists such as Ahmad Kashani, Alireza Bahrani, Hanieh Gouyandeh and Hossein Akbari.
Malaysia's International Art Expo is one of the most anticipated events in the Southeast Asian country, which have run for many years, hosting art galleries from across Malaysia and other countries.
This year's art expo will be held at Kuala Lumpur's Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre from October 28 to November 1, 2011.
