IRIB - IRI Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari says the Islamic Republic has no interest in establishing a military-to-military hotline with the United States.

In September, some Western media outlets reported that the Pentagon and US State Department seek to establish a direct military hotline to Iran as a means to head off possible conflicts in the oil-rich Persian Gulf region.

"This region belongs to regional countries which are themselves capable of establishing its security," Sayyari said in an interview with Iran's Arabic-language news channel al-Alam on Sunday.

"So, we have no need to establish such communications," he reiterated.

Sayyari further emphasized that Iran fully monitors all movements in the sea and on the ground, saying: "It is impossible for anybody to manage to come to a region and not be spotted by us."

The commander added that both Iran's Navy and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps have a full control over the region from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman.

"They will never permit any country's aircraft carriers or submarines to approach the region," he pointed out.
