Bahraini regime kills teenage protester
Saudi-backed Bahraini forces have killed another teenage protester in Bahrain amid the ongoing anti-government uprising in the US-propped kingdom, Press TV reports.
Manama regime forces shot and wounded 16-year-old Ahmed Jaber al-Qattan in the chest at close range in the northern village of Abu Saiba on Thursday.
The young man was immediately taken to the International Hospital in the capital city, but was pronounced dead after emergency treatments failed.
The news of Qattan's death sparked numerous protests across Bahrain, all of which faced heavy crackdown by the Saudi-backed security forces.
Meanwhile, a female Bahraini journalist, Bassima Al Qassab, has been summoned to a court over allegations of inciting hatred against the government and organizing “illegal gatherings,” despite promises by Manama about granting immunity to journalists.
Earlier, she had been interrogated at Isa Town's police center about her interview with foreign media on the uprisings in Bahrain and her opinions posted on Twitter.
Late in August, Bahraini forces killed 14-year-old Ali Jawad by shooting a tear gas canister at the teenager during a protest held following Eid al-Fitr prayers in the city of Sitra.
Since mid-February, thousands of anti-government protesters have been staging regular demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling on the US-backed Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
On March 14, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates invaded the country to assist Bahraini rulers in their brutal crackdown on peaceful anti-government protesters.
According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the regime crackdown.
