Iran a time-tested friend: PA Speaker

 LAHORE - Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Muhammad Iqbal has said that Iran is a brotherly country whose rich culture and traditions have influenced literature and languages in rest of world especially in South Asia. 

While speaking at a dinner hosted in honour of Dr. Mahmoud Salahi, Governor of the largest province of Iran, Khorasan-e-Razavi and his delegation at Assembly Chambers here on Monday, Rana Iqal said that Iran has stood by Pakistan through thick and thin and provided support to Pakistan during initial years. 
Terming Iranian revolution a unique incident in the history of 20th century, the speaker observed that the revolution had changed lives of millions of Iranians. He noted that Iranian leadership was poised to make their country an enlightened entity among the comity of nations. 
Referring to centuries-old historical and cultural relations between Pakistan and Iran, Rana said that people of Pakistan cherished their friendship with Iran. The Speaker stressed that people in both countries should adopt the philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that the poetry of Allama Iqbal taught them to achieve freedom and independence in real sense. He said that there was vast scope of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, live stock, energy and other sectors between the two countries. 
The Muslim Umaah, he said, should make collective efforts for the solution of their major problems such as terrorism, unemployment and poverty.
