Press TV--The US has issued a global travel warning for all American citizens following the killing of al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.
After announcing the death of Osama bin Laden during a US operation, the US State Department has issued a world-wide travel alert for Americans, warning them of “enhanced potential for anti-American violence," Reuters reported.

"Given the uncertainty and volatility of the current situation, US citizens in areas where events could cause anti-American violence are strongly urged to limit their travel outside of their homes and hotels and avoid mass gatherings and demonstrations," a statement by the State Department said.

US President Barack Obama announced the death of bin Laden, following a Sunday operation in Pakistan.

The operation has reportedly left three other men dead and a woman injured. A son of bin Laden was among those killed.

The death of Osama bin Laden comes almost ten years after the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States which resulted in death of nearly 3,000 people.

During the 2001 incident, some 19 “al-Qaeda terrorists” reportedly hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners, crashing two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.

A third airliner was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.
