Zawya-- Iran's Ambassador to India Mehdi Nabizadeh has refuted charges of the country's interference in Bahrain.   "Iran has not at all interfered in internal matters of Bahrain," Nabizadeh said speaking
during a press conference at Iran's Embassy here Friday.

Denying the recent charges made by the Saudi Arabian embassy in India regarding to Iran's alleged interference in Bahrain, Nabizadeh said, "This is not the first time that Iran has been accused by such baseless statements."

He 'totally' denied the false charges 'made by the spokesperson of Saudi Arabian embassy in New Delhi that Iran interferes in internal affairs of Bahrain.'

"Iran has never been interfering in internal problems of any country and will never do so in the future," Nabizadeh told the journalists.

Moreover, Iran expected its neighboring as well as other Islamic countries to not pay attention to false charges and baseless rumors spread by the West, added the Iranian diplomat.

Nabizadeh said, 'Iran has expressed its opinions about Bahrain as well as other countries like Egypt, Tunisia and Libya. We firmly believe that every country should use its own forces to control its domestic problems.'

He further noted that we don't support presence of foreign troops in the region because that was detrimental to the interests of people as well as nations of the Middle East region.

The Iranian diplomat added that presence of foreign troops in Bahrain was neither in the interest of Saudi Arabia nor that of Bahrain.

"Our stand actually is to defend the rights of people and nations. Iran supports Muslim communities as well as oppressed people all over the world,' said Nabizadeh.

'At the same time, we oppose the autocratic rulers and dictators and do not support any kind of invasions by them. And it has nothing to do with the debate of Shia and Sunni Muslims,' Iranian official further noted.

Clarifying Iran's stand, Nabizadeh added, "We have always supported Muslims of Palestine who are Sunni. In fact, we have done our duty by doing so (supporting the victims). In the last few months following the Islamic revival in the region, we have done the same which is to support the people of Egypt, Libya etc. But, unfortunately our acts of defending and supporting the people of Bahrain has made us face accusations of dividing Shia and Sunni Muslims in Bahrain.'
