Afghan finance minister meets Ahmadinejad
Tehran Times -- Afghan Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal, who also serves as chief economic advisor to President Hamid Karzai, met with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday.
Ahmadinejad said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stood by the Afghan people and supports promotion of security in the neighboring country.
He also expressed hope that occupiers will leave the war-ravaged country in the near future and will hand over the affairs to the Afghans.
Ahmadinejad added if the money that certain countries are spending on militarism in Afghanistan, was spent on promotion of peace and security there, it would help resolve many problems faced by the Afghans.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president said that the expansion of economic cooperation with the neighboring countries is high on Iran’s agenda.
Tehran sees no limitation for development of economic cooperation with Kabul, he stated.
Afghan finance minister also said that his country is determined to strengthen economic ties with Iran.
Afghan traders prefer economic transaction with the Iranian traders since they have more trust in the Iranians, Zakhilwal stated
Iran says it backs Egyptian movement
ISNA-Iran supports movement of Egyptian great nation, said Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
"Popular protests and movements in North African countries including in Egypt show necessity of an overhaul in the region and putting an end to dictatorial rules," he said on Monday.
"Tunisian and Egyptian nations proved that the era of engineering and controlling the region by the World Arrogance is over and that people are trying to decide about their fate.
" He also criticized the US direct meddling in Egyptian developments. "Egyptian brothers and sisters showed that they will not continue to tolerate Zionist regime’s crimes," Iranian Foreign Minister added. He assured that Egyptian nation would play its role well in establishment of a Middle East which belongs to all free and justice and independent seeking nations.
