Iran Injects More Military Advisors to Syria
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian blasted supporters of terrorist groups in Syria, and announced that Tehran has increased the number of its military advisors in the war-hit Arab country.
"The current situation in Syria is the result of cooperation and support of a number of neighbors and regional and trans-regional states for the terrorist organizations," Amir Abdollahian said, addressing the British elites and academics in London on Wednesday.
He referred to Iran's constructive role through sending humanitarian aids and its efforts to safeguard security and integrity of Syria, and said, "Tehran is now ready to continue cooperation to keep tranquility and hold elections in that country."
"The Syrian army has now started ground offensive operations and the Iranian military advisors merely provide it with counseling services in the war on terrorism," Amir Abdollahian said.
He underlined that Iran "has increased the number of its advisors in Syria and our only goal is just fighting terrorism".
In relevant remarks on Saturday, Amir Abdollahian announced that Tehran planned to enhance its military counseling to Syrian government and nation in their ongoing fight against the Takfiri terrorists.
"Iran has sent military attaches to Syria and Iraq at the request of Damascus and Baghdad," Amir Abdollahian said.
Yet, the deputy foreign minister once again rejected the rumors that Iran has deployed military forces in Syria, and underlined that Tehran has "no combat troops" in the war-torn country.
"But we will definitely intensify our counseling aid to the battle against terrorism, and will make more efforts" in this regard, Amir Abdollahian said.
Also, last Wednesday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan stressed that the country's military experts and advisors are taking preparatory actions that will end up in the complete annihilation of the Takfiri groups, including the ISIL terrorists, in Syria.
Dehqan made the remarks in a ceremony in Tehran to commemorate martyrdom of IRGC Commander Brigadier General Hossein Hamadani, who was killed in Northern Syria on October 8.
He referred to the new joint operations plan of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Russia to destroy the ISIL, and said, "At present, we are witnessing start of new developments in Syria, thanks to the efforts and measures adopted by martyr Hamadani."
"God willing, these developments will pave the ground for the full annihilation of the Takfiri groups," Dehqan said.
