No Place for Foreign-Backed Groups in Syrian-Syrian Talks

(FNA)- The foreign-based groups who are supported by certain regional countries won't be welcomed in the upcoming talks between the Syrian government and the opposition, senior parliamentary officials in Damascus said.

"The Syrian nation will not accept the presence of those opposition forces who are residing abroad and are hypocrites and mercenaries of Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the Syrian-Syrian talks," Ons Al-Shami told FNA on Saturday.

The Syrian lawmaker reiterated that countries like Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are staunch supporters of terrorism in the region, including Syria, and said, "These countries are the main obstacles to a political solution to the Syrian crisis."

He pointed to Russia's initiative to host the Damascus-Opposition talks in Moscow, and said, "Holding meeting on resolving the Syrian crisis in Moscow is an important opportunity for the international community, specially the European Union member-states to exert pressure on Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to halt their support for terrorism … ."

Syria has been targeted by the international terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda, al-Nusra Front, Ahrar al-Sham, Ansar al-Sham and the ISIL since 2011.

Full supports of certain western powers and their regional allies fueled security crisis in Syria, but the country's army and government did not take even one step back in their anti-terrorism campaign, and have vowed to continue their fight until eradication of insurgency and restoration of peace and tranquility to the Middle-Eastern country.
