Iran, China Eye Close Media Ties
(Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and China in a meeting in Beijing agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two Asian nations in the field of media and public diplomacy.
Iran’s Ambassador to Beijing Ali Asghar Khaji held a meeting with a high-ranking official with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Friday.
The two sides explored avenues for the enhancement of media ties between Iran and China in tandem with other areas of cooperation.
The envoy said Iranian and Chinese people can get better acquainted with each other once Tehran and Beijing promote cooperation in the field of media and public diplomacy, resulting in closer relations in other arenas as well.
The Chinese official, for his part, voiced Beijing’s preparedness to cooperate with the Iranian government for “regular and organized relations” between the two countries’ major media outlets.
They two sides also agreed on drafting a memorandum of understanding for the expansion of media cooperation.
