IAEA Report Confirms Transparency of Iran’s N. Program
(FNA)- Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency Reza Najafi said the latest report by the IAEA on Iran indicated that the country's nuclear activities are transparent and the alleged concerns of certain western states are baseless.
"The IAEA's new report confirms once again that all the nuclear programs of Iran from enrichment activities in Natanz and Fordo to heavy water research reactor in Arak, and different installations in Isfahan, Tehran, Bushehr and other parts of the country are all being used for peaceful purposes under the supervision of the IAEA and with no diversions," Najafi told FNA on Saturday.
He said the report also stresses that Iran has implemented all the voluntary measures that it has taken up under the November 2013 Geneva agreement with the world powers and also after its extension.
"The Agency's detailed report shows the full transparency of Iran's nuclear program, and it displays that there is nothing hidden (in our nuclear program), and that the superficial concerns of certain western states about Iran's nuclear program are baseless," Najafi said.
IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano in his latest report on Iran's nuclear activities on Friday underscored the country's full implementation of the contents of the Geneva agreement.
The Geneva agreement took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20. In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
Iran and the six major world powers have already held 8 rounds of nuclear negotiations after inking an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and have less than three weeks time to strike a final deal before the November 24 deadline.
Tehran and the six powers have already held seven rounds of talks in Vienna, and one more round in New York and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. They are now preparing for their 9th round of negotiations due to be held in Masqat, Oman, on November 11.
