US-Led Anti-ISIL Coalition Doomed to Failure
(FNA)- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati questioned the seriousness and honesty of the so-called international coalition against the ISIL, reminding that the coalition members are the creators and supporters of ISIL and other terrorist groups in the region.
Jannati on Friday voiced his concern about the threats of the extremist and Takfiri groups in the region, and meantime emphasized that anti-ISIL coalition is nothing but a show.
He further added that certain countries, that used to provide the Takfiri groups with financial and arms support, have now joined the coalition.
The Iranian minister said similar air raiding against such extremist groups, particularly Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, ended up in failure.
In relevant remarks last month, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri questioned the US-led anti-ISIL coalition, and said Washington is still providing the terrorist group with different supports.
"Based on the intelligence, news and analyses we have, the foreign spy agencies, headed by the US, created, managed and supported the ISIL and regional terrorists logistically," Jazayeri said, addressing Basij (volunteer) forces in Tehran.
After the US-led coalition against the ISIL declared its creation, Iran lashed out at the western states for pursuing a double-standard policy towards campaign against terrorism in various countries.
Also in September, Iran's Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami underlined that the US-led coalition formed against the ISIL was a political showoff, and said launching airstrikes against the ISIL positions in Iraq was ineffective.
"This coalition is a propaganda job and I doubt its seriousness and on the other hand this coalition is an ineffective measure," Brigadier General Hatami told reporters.
He noted that the West has equipped the ISIL against Syria and Iraq and now they want to confront it.
