President Rouhani calls for expansion of Tehran-Baku ties

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Azerbaijani Economic Development and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev.



"We should not let the third countries to meddle in Tehran-Baku amicable relations," he added.



Referring to the two countries' ancient-old historical relations, President Rouhani underscored that the mutual ties could be expanded in economic, political and cultural arenas.



Describing terrorism as a very dangerous threat for the regional countries, President Rouhani underlined that terrorism is a contagious disease, which is stationed behind the borderlines of the countries.



If the regional countries do not remain united, every moment these germs (terrorists) may enter into their states, he added.



The visiting Azerbaijani minister, for his part, underscored that Azerbaijan and Iran have witnessed expansion of relations during the recent months.



He also guaranteed that no threat would pose the Islamic Republic from the Azerbaijani soil.



Mustafayev arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a 3-day visit at the head of an economic

delegation.



The visit is aimed at pursuing the implementation of the agreements reached by the 9th Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Baku last month.



The visit is upon an invitation by Iran's Minister of communication and Information Technology and the Iranian co-chairman of the joint commission Mahmoud Vaezi.
