Zarif discusses EU-Iran ties with Van Rompuy
(KUNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif Monday met the President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy, and discussed bilateral EU-Iran ties and developments in the region.
"Today we have discussions with EU and Belgian officials. Our first meeting was a general discussion on issues of general interest to Iran and the EU, nuclear issue and extremism and terrorism in the region," he told reporters after the meeting speaking in Persian.
They also discussed the situation in Europe and concerns in Europe and the possibility of cooperation between the two sides on these issues, he said.
Zarif added that he has other meetings today with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on the progress of nuclear talks, as well as with Belgian officials.
