Iranian, Yemeni FMs Discuss Regional Developments, Bilateral Ties

(FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Yemeni counterpart Abu Baker Abdullah al-Qirbi discussed the latest developments in the region, and emphasized the need for reciprocal efforts to pave the ground for the further expansion of their all-out ties.

In a meeting on the sidelines of the 17th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers Conference, the two top diplomats voiced their countries willingness to broaden cooperation in all sectors, and also underlined their resolve to pursue fate of Iran's abducted embassy staff in Yemen Nour-Ahmad Nikbakht.  

“Tehran is also ready for expansion of bilateral relation in various regional and international scenes,” Zarif said in the meeting.

Al-Qirbi, for his part, underlined the outcomes of a recent visit by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian to the Yemeni capital and the establishment of a special joint committee to pursue the fate of the abducted Iranian diplomat.

He meanwhile voiced his country’s willingness for expansion of the relations.

Islamic Republic of Iran has always underlined that expansion of ties with friendly states stands atop its foreign policy's agenda.

Earlier this month, al-Qirbi confirmed that Nikbakht, who was abducted in the Yemeni capital in July, is in good health conditions.

Unknown assailants abducted the Iranian embassy staff member, Nikbakht, in Safr street in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, in late July.
